Diluent tolerance
PLAXTENE LWA XWA resins can be diluted with alcohols, esters, and glycol ethers
and their esters. They have limited diluent tolerance for aromatic
hydrocarbons and none at all for white spirit.
Compatibility
PLAXTENE LWA XWA resins are compatible with cellulose nitrate, urea resins and
epoxy resins.
Application
PLAXTENEresins are used either as sole binders for acid-catalyzed and
baking finishes or in combination with cellulose nitrate.
PLAXTENE XWA AND LWA produces extremely flexible coatings on pliable substrates
(eg, rubber, textiles, paper etc).
Baking finishes with PLAXTENEresins are cured at 120 180 °C to
produce non-yellow finishes. Urea-formaldehyde formulations are not
recommended for articles that are continuously exposed to moisture.
The properties of the resin and the finish depend on many factors
for us to take account of in our own trials. Formulator's own paint trials are
therefore essential.
Safety
General
Attention must be paid to the normal precautions for handling chemicals
and to the measures prescribed in the local health regulations. The work-
place must be well ventilated, skin care measures should be adopted and
eye protection should be worn.
Safety Data Sheet
The Safety Data Sheets for PLAXTENEresins provide information on all
the known safety data.
Storage
PLAXTENE resins have a shelf life of 12 months if kept cool (but away
from frost) in tightly sealed drums or storage tanks.
